Any ideas for decor for church?

I am looking for decorations for our church during the ceremoy. We are getting married in a catholic church and my colors are champange and claret. I need ideas on floral arrangements and pew bows. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Any ideas for decor for church?
I like the stuff they have on this website. It%26#039;s much more original than you tulle bows..

that and candals.
Reply:Pew bow with flowers in them would be very pretty. Also remember you%26#039;ll have the alter flowers and sprays of red in them will look just beautiful (roses, lilies, gerber daisies etc) Your florist should have books for you to look through. Also does your church have columns? Sometimes they have hooks for hanging plants.

Bridal Party Flower Question?

I am getting married in April of this year. My bridesmaids dress color is red. We picked this color becasue my fiancee is a fireman. Does anyone have any ideas of inexpensive floral arrangements we can get for the bridesmaids. Ex: type of flowers to use, colors, etc..

Bridal Party Flower Question?
Here are some ideas for you. I would recommend using other colors with the red so they don%26#039;t get %26quot;lost%26quot; against the red of the dress.

Any bouqete that you find can be altered by your florist. Using flowers that are in season in April will reduce your cost greatly. Bring pictures of bouqetes that you like *style and color* to your florist and they can help you create it even if they have to use different flowers than the original.

Reply:You could go to your local craft store and get some silk flowers. I would get red and white flowers and maybe coordinate some ribbons to go with them.
Reply:Gerber Daisies come in great bright colors, some red, some orange-y and yellow, they are beautiful and the best part is they look good on their own- no need to combine other flowers- or even in fairly small bunches. Tulips are also nice too and not expensive.
Reply:white callic lillies. They are big and you dont need as many. White will accent your dress as well. On your arrangements have a red ribbon tied around them to accent their dresses.
Reply:pink or white flowers..no red it would be too much red I think..and also look into silk flowers if you are on a budget..thats what I%26#039;m using. Congrats!!
Reply:I used cala lillies and they looked very elegant in pictures. My maid of honor had two and each bridesmaid had one. It sounds a little minimalistic, but it photographed wonderfully.
Reply:i would have red roses and white roses together here are some websites

Reply:well roses and carnations are probably more expensive so I can%26#039;t really thinkg of a type of flower. You can try visiting a flower arrangement store and checking out just the types of flowers not the colors. The colors would depend on what color red. Like a deep red or a light red. I think white would go really nicely with the dress no matter what color red. But if you don%26#039;t want white I%26#039;d try some color %26quot;relatives%26quot; of red, like a dark pink or any different hues of pink with some white mixed in.best wishes.
Reply:Red lillies would be a great choice or you could play up the or you could use the glory lilly that actually looks like flames.
Reply:white roses with the tips in red or pink..
Reply:white daisies! i think that%26#039;d go perfectly with red dresses
Reply:This lady has AMAZING work. you could go to hobby lobby or micheals and get the flowers and find a cheap book to find how to make them. there is no harm in trying them first before you make all of them. GOOD LUCK!!!

Should I use the bouquet to match?

Here is my bridesmaids dresses.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2953258/0~23...

I am having large casual outdoor summer wedding in black, ivory, and red. There is a velvet burnout on the dress of floral arrangements. Should I have my bridesmaides carry an arrangement that matches the sillouette on their dresses or is it too faint to notice and won%26#039;t matter?

Should I use the bouquet to match?
I would suggest going with the same shape as the bouquets on the dress, but the actually flowers really aren%26#039;t a big deal. It%26#039;s to hard to really tell what they would be anyway.
Reply:The dress is really pretty but I%26#039;m not sure about the color black or red or the material for a summer wedding. If you decide to do this have a sunset wedding. I would probably have the bridesmaids bouquets red (roses for instance) with a hint of white or ivory (dipped by the florist). Hopefully your groomsmen are wearing black tux. Just keep it classy...good luck!
Reply:Skip the black, and just go with white and red. Yes, weddings are for HAPPY colors.

The bouquets could just be a nice mix of pretty colors and assorted types of flowers, it would look pretty with a red dress.
Reply:Its had to tell exactly how the arrangement on the dress is. You should do round bouquets to keep the feeling. I would go with red roses. They will really pop against the black.
Reply:It%26#039;s not to faint to notice I actually think it the highlight of the dress but I don%26#039;t think people will pay that much attention to the pattern to see if it clashes with the flowers or not. I say go with whatever you want.
Reply:It%26#039;s hard to tell from the picture, but it doesn%26#039;t look real pronounced on the dress, unless you really look at it. I don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s enough so that the bouquets should match. It might even look a little weird if you tried to match them exactly. Maybe stick with them being basically round, but besides that, I wouldn%26#039;t worry about it.
Reply:thats not a bridsmaid dress.. thats a cocktail dress...

and black.. what the hell is that about...

what is this half wedding half funeral...

go with a nicer colour than that...

and the bouquets they hold should pop out...

like a red dress with white flowers... then you can notice them...

Bridal shower gift?

My bridal shower is this sunday. It is at one of my bridesmaids parents house. Her mom is starting to get worried about everything since there will be so many people there.. what would be an apropriate gift to give her mom and dad for having it at their house. I was thinking an baskat from eddible arrangements with is a bunch of fruit cut cute and put into a vase to make it look like a floral arrangement. Any other ideas.. I dont want to spend more than about 40.

Bridal shower gift?
How about going to Pier One and giving them a beautiful vase or candle set?

How about a gift certificate to Outback or a restaurant near by and a nice card? ($40)

How about sending something from here....

http://www.wisconsincheeseman.com/?utm_s...

How about 2 bottles of wine with ribbon around the necks and a nice card saying how you appreciated her hospitality for your bridal shower?

How about a $40 gift card to Bed Bath and Beyond in a nice card?
Reply:I think that would be great. Also you could get them a gift card to their fav restaurant, a nice plant for their yard, a gift card to a nursery for flowers for their house. I think anything you get them will be great. Its nice you are thinking of them :]
Reply:40.00 at Edible Arrangements won%26#039;t go far. Try getting them something like a gift certificate to a nice restaurant. They%26#039;ll like that!
Reply:You could give them a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant.
Reply:any kind of basket like that would be wonderful or even a gift card to their favorite restaurant.
Reply:I would write a heartfelt thank you note and give them a gift card to a restaurant.
Reply:How about a gift cert. for Merry Maids to help clean up afterwards.

What can I give to a family at a funeral besides flowers and/or food?

The father of a very good family friend passed away yesterday. The initial discussion was to do a nice floral arrangement, as they have done that in the past for my family. However, I just don%26#039;t want to spend $75 on a bouquet that will die. And I%26#039;m not a fan of silk arrangements either.

The family won%26#039;t need food... they are active in a lot of groups that have already offered to provide meals for a few weeks.

There is no mention of providing a donation to a charity, so that%26#039;s out.

The man%26#039;s hobbies included oil painting; woodworking; fishing; watching his children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandson’s athletic events; basketball; decorating for Christmas; and working in his yard.

Any suggestions on something we could do that would be more long-lasting and memorable (for his family, not for our gift).

What can I give to a family at a funeral besides flowers and/or food?
If you don%26#039;t want to do a flower arrangement to send to the wake, it%26#039;s usually traditional to send a PLANT instead (not flowers). You can find BEAUTIFUL peace lilies online. They%26#039;re really durable, and don%26#039;t take a green thumb to take care of. They%26#039;re also beautiful.

You can also send a fruit basket instead of sending %26quot;food%26quot;.

Really anything you do will be appreciated. Don%26#039;t worry about what other people are doing. I would probably go with the plant.
Reply:go to a nursery and pick out a bush or a tree that can be planted in the family%26#039;s yard
Reply:If there is no charity to donate to, pick one and put it in the deceased name anyway. Example: is there a charity Home Depot or Lowes does things for; because he was handy and things. Find out what organizations they are affilated with and donate to them in his memory and make sure the family sees it.

Also, waiting and then doing something kind after the funeral is long over with is an excellent way to show you care after everyone has forgotten.
Reply:you have two options: either phone the family and ask what organization to donate to in the man%26#039;s memory, or send a check to them with a note saying you wanted to contribute to ease their loss and didn%26#039;t know what they needed at this time of their loss. (with the money they could pay for Masses in the future if they are catholic, they could put it toward the funeral or expenses they incurred, they could donate it to offset the guys income with regard to his final IRS form, etc. and you could use that as a donation on your income taxes)
Reply:Usually a nice family photo with him in. If you can get it enlarge and framed in a quality frame. People will be able to remember the happy moment the photo was taken for many years to come.

I did a similar thing when a very close uncle died, my auntie still keep the photo on show on her mantle piece 8 years later.
Reply:...Hmm, you could find a local painter to have his portret painted in oil - add a custom wood carved frame and don%26#039;t make it too big, like in the old days, just dainty enough as not too be cumbersome in the future. At the funeral just let them know you are preparing a special gift that takes a little time to deliver and offer a smaller arrengement with a sympathy card.

If oil painting is not an otion then invest in a quality enlargement (again, not too big) and real expensive carved wood frame from a pro, custom framing services, they do an excelent job!
Reply:What did he die of? Cancer? Donate to the Cancer Society. Heart disease? Donate to Heart %26amp; Stroke. You get the idea.

He either died in a hospital or was treated in a hospital - donate to that hospital
Reply:An envelope with cash!
Reply:Habitat for Humanity is a good choice for a charity.

Also, since he had so many hobbies, you may want to consider donating some money to a local public library to purchase library books in his memory. The library normally places a book plaque in the front of the book saying %26quot;Donated in the memory of....%26quot;

Since he had so many hobbies, asking the library to buy books in his hobby areas would be nice.

Another idea would be to donate money to the great-grandson%26#039;s school (maybe the athletic department?).

Just a few ideas.
Reply:You could put together a photo collage of him and present it to the family. If you use a computer, put some music in the background or his favorite songs.
Reply:Maybe you could make a donation in his name to a local organization he enjoyed - like the athletic boosters, the garden league, or a local marina. When my grandmother died, a friend gave us a hydrangea which we planted. It reminds us of her every time it blooms.
Reply:We felt the same way when my grandmother died, no need for a bunch of flowers so we asked that people make a donation in her name at her 2 favorite charities. You say that donations are out, but you could find something in the woodworking or oil painting world that you could donate the money to in his name. Or you could just give the donation for them at the funeral. People give money at funerals too. Normally it goes to help pay for the funeral.

Mor math help?

1 Find the slope and y-intercept for the graph of the equation: 4x - 2y = 24

2 Find the slope and y-intercept for the graph of the equation: 12x - 4y = 96.

3 Find the slope and y-intercept for the graph of the equation: 9x - 3y = 81.

4 For banquets, Flourishing Flowers charges $60 for each standard floral arrangement plus a one time $125 fee for delivery and set up. Write an equation in slope-intercept form that shows the cost y for flowers for x number of arrangements.

1 x = 60y + 125

2 y = 60x + 125

3 y = 125x + 60

4 x = 125y + 60

Mor math help?
The equation to find slope and the y-intercept is y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

4x - 2y = 24

-2y = -4x + 24

y = 2x - 12

m= 2

y-intercept = -12

12x - 4y = 96

-4y = -12x + 96

y = 3x - 24

m= 3

y-intercept = -24

9x - 3y = 81

-3y = -9x + 81

y = 3x - 27

m = 3

y-intercept = -27

flowers: $60x

one time fee: $125

y = $60x + $125
Reply:The equation for finding the slope and y-intercept is:

y = mx + b

where m is the slope

and b is the y-intercept.

Put your problems in this form and you will be able to determine the slope and y-intercept.

Find an equation in thr slope-intercept form for the line:

This sounds like they are wanting you to use Pythagoreans theorem here. So you would do 40 squared + 18 squared = x and then find the square root of x

For banquets, Flourishing Flowers charges $60 for each standard floral arrangement plus a one time $125 fee for delivery and set up , Write an equation in a slope-intercept form that shows the cost y for flowers for x number of arrangements.

y=125+60x If I remember correctly slope-intercept form is y=mx+b, so that form should be correct.

Find an equation in thr slope-intercept form for the line:

slope= 4 , y-intercept = 4

4=4x+b???
Reply:#3. Y=4X + 4

#4. -3-4/-5-(-4); so -7/-1 so 7 is you slope, then slope intercept form is (y-y1)=M(x-x1), choose and pair of points, you should get the same answer no matter which you use, so

y-(-4) = 7(x-4)

y + 4 =7x - 28

y = 7x -32

#5 is the same way find your slope first y2-y1/x2-x1

4-7/1-4 = -3/-3 so m=1

y-1 = 1(x-4)

y -1 =x -4

y=x -3

A lawyer sues her florist.. Read and tell me your opinion.?

Elana Elbogen, a litigator at Kelley Drye in New York, married David Glatt at Cipriani 42nd St. this summer. She wasn’t happy with the floral arrangements. So she sued.

In a breach-of-contract lawsuit filed Friday against Posy Floral Design Studios in New York state court, Elbogen alleges that the florist substituted pastel pink and green hydrangeas for the dark rust and green hydrangeas that she had specified for the centerpieces. Other issues, says the lawsuit: “using wilted and/or browned flowers, leaving the event without filling half the centerpiece vases with water, and using dusty and dirty vases.” Here are stories from the NYT and NY Post.

“The use of predominantly pastel centerpieces had a significant impact on the look of the room and was entirely inconsistent with the vision the plaintiffs had bargained for,” says the lawsuit, according to the Times. They paid in advance for the flowers, which cost — yikes! — $27,435.14. After the wedding, they asked for a $4,000 refund. Now, they’re asking for $400,000 in damages.

A lawyer sues her florist.. Read and tell me your opinion.?
If you pay that much for the flowers at your wedding you deserve to get what you asked for. If what she says is true, and if she did ask for just $4000 back and the florist refused to consider it, well... A wedding is really important and wilted and brown flowers in the wrong colours would be very upsetting. And sometimes you have to ask for more than you really want just to get what you deserve. I hate that people now days tend to sue at the drop of a hat, but if someone won%26#039;t negotiate and they are in the wrong, what other choice is there. Role over and play dead? Let people walk all over you? The florist contracted to perform a service and did not live up to her end of the deal.

The Perfect Degree?

I like doing so many things, I can type quick, I can read well, I%26#039;m good at making wedding announcements, and floral arangements, I can do solon style nails basically I can do it all except find the perfect decuation path. My husband is going to school to get his degree so he can teach i%26#039;m 23 going on 24 years old and I%26#039;m still playing with the Idea of what I wanna be when I grow up!! I see my self in my own shop making my own floral arrangements, but then again I would like a job where I can Make wedding announcements, and or birthday inviations, but then I wan to do nails !!! I need some help any advice anybody? And please dont nock me while I%26#039;m down I need some considerable advice!

The Perfect Degree?
If you%26#039;re thinking about school think a business degree. It is so versatile and you can use it to open up your own floral arrangement/nail salon that makes wedding invitations!

Otherwise just pick one choice and try it see if you like it, if you don%26#039;t try another one. At least you have several talents to fall back on.
Reply:I totally understand! I am a marketing major and I still don%26#039;t know what I want to do. I am 21 and have changed my major 7 times in 2 years. Anyway, if you love all 3 things then maybe you can open your own shop. Do nails on certain days and flowers and invitations on other days. But, most the time to do nails you need to go to beauty school so that you are considered a pro. Maybe you could find a job at a flower place or a wedding store and see if you really love it! Its okay, i know people who are in their 40%26#039;s and still don%26#039;t know what they want to be when they grow up! Good luck!
Reply:Go try the nail thing first, and if it doesn%26#039;t work out, do the flower thing. You can incorporate the wedding announcements thing into the flower thing, and then go into a specialty with wedding planners.

Los Angeles Flower District - How to order?

I heard people getting bulks of flower at the LA Flower District for cheap. I was there two weeks ago and bought some flowers to practice making bouquets for my Wedding November 08. I love the results and plan to do all the floral arrangements and bouquet for my wedding.

How do I come about ordering batches of flowers from the LA Flower District? Do I just go in the day before and grab what ever flower I want or should I meet with certain floral shops in the facility to order in advance.

Please provide answers, thanks.

Then you just wander around a purchase between the 2 warehouse buildings.

Two (okay 3) words of warning though:

-Shop around for prices before handing over money.

-Most places only take cash, so you need to have it on you, or there are ATMs

-Go early! Some places pack up around 9 or 9:30 so it is to your benefit to roll out of bed and put on your lazy day clothes to get down there.

Do You HAVE To Have Flowers for the Wedding?

I will not have bridesmaids, or any flower arrangements at church or home. I just will have a small bouquet arranged from my backyard flowers for me. No corsages or anything. I believe it is a waste of $$, and the floral industry charges so much and then off to a honeymoon for 2 weeks in which I would never see floral arrangements that would wilt anyways. You say?

Do You HAVE To Have Flowers for the Wedding?
No, you don%26#039;t have to have flowers, No one will say your wedding was terrible b/c there were no flowers. You could you hurricane vases filled with sand and a candle as a centerpiece (if you even want a centerpiece) or just use candles. A cheap place to get candles is www.candles4less.com
Reply:Weddings are meant to celebrate the union of two people. Do it how you feel suits you and your future spouse!
Reply:You make a good point. It%26#039;s your wedding day so do what you want. I don%26#039;t think it would be a problem to not have flowers... who cares right? I did have flowers at my wedding, but I didnt carry a bouquet, I just carried a single rose - most people were like %26quot;WHAT, NO BOUQUET%26quot; when I told them, but heck, its my wedding!

Do what you want. I think your day will be perfect for you no matter what... ditch the flowers if you want! Go for it!

And, for my daughter%26#039;s wedding, we got flowers from Kroger. They looked great.

Reply:Hi and congratulations!

NO....you DON%26#039;T have to have flowers at all! Personally, I LOVE flowers and would want some.

Here is a thought:

~ Do you have enough backyard flowers for 2 vases (can be bought at a dollar store) for each side of the altar at the church?

I do think that would look nice. OR....do you live by a Walmart or Costco? I buy roses all the time from Walmart...you get 12 for $10! Cheap! I don%26#039;t know what Costco charges. All the grocery stores with floral departments (and some without!) even sell flowers now. My local grocery store does and I live in a little town!

I do think it would look nice to have something in the church. But, again, YOUR choice.

Also...something inexpensive would be ....what about a small boutonniere for your groom and a small corsage for the %26quot;moms%26quot;? This is EASY, EASY, EASY to do with silks, which you can make up ahead of time. And with all the upcoming sales at craft stores? Well, again, just an idea. If you got brave enough you could even do them with real flowers (again, from Walmart or a grocery store!) Here is a link showing how to do it:

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/cormakbas....

For everything....2 church arrangements, 1 boutonniere, and 2 corsages....it should be $30 max!

But, again, NO, you don%26#039;t need anything! Good luck!
Reply:Nope...get creative and try something else-like ribbon bouquets(folded like flowers)
Reply:It is your wedding you can do what you want. I am having a small wedding and a large reception. And I agree that it is a waste of money to have tons of flowers if it is not what you want. I will not be having any flowers at my reception and I think that with the decorations that I will have it will be just as beautiful without spending money on lots of flowers that will just be thrown away once it is over.
Reply:it%26#039;s your wedding, you do it the way you want. it%26#039;s your day, noone elses.
Reply:i dont think you NEED flowers for a wedding but its nice to have 1 or 2 boquettes. but that makes alot of sence because 2week honeymoon and you wont get to see them
Reply:Of course you don%26#039;t have to have flowers at your wedding. You don%26#039;t have to do anything you don%26#039;t want to do except sign the marriage license and say %26quot;I do.%26quot;

But if you%26#039;re only worried about flowers dying and not getting your money%26#039;s worth, you can use silk flowers and give the bouquets as gifts to the mothers and grandmothers before going on your honeymoon. Flowers just make things look more festive.
Reply:Then don%26#039;t have flowers. That simple!!! My hubby used to buy me flowers until I told him to stop - they die and I get sad. So for the last to years I get all sorts of little trinkets.
Reply:do whatever makes you happy. You could always substitute flowers with something else. Like my cousin took fish bowls and put floating flower candles in them. They looked cool enough without getting too expensive.
Reply:I say it is your wedding, do what you want! I like the idea of having flowers from your backyard. That sounds beautiful as well and more meaningful than just purchasing them from a store. Enjoy your wedding, congrats and good luck!
Reply:of course you do not need flowers at your wedding silly.. whatever you want!
Reply:it is your wedding. If you don%26#039;t want to have flowers, it is fine. It is your wedding day, do whatever makes you happy.
Reply:flowers make it classy if you dont want a classy wedding then dont take flowers

What is the cost difference in making your own flowers or getting real ones from a florist?

I am trying to decide whether or not to use fake or real flowers for some of the floral arrangements at my wedding. I definitely want a florist to make the boquets and centerpieces out of real flowers. But, for everything else, I would consider making my own arrangements with fake flowers as long as it is cheaper than getting real flowers.

Some people decide to make their own floral decorations for their wedding with fake flowers and they turn out nice. But, why not just use real flowers? Do real flowers cost signifigantly more than fake ones?

What is the cost difference in making your own flowers or getting real ones from a florist?
Unless you are able to get fresh flowers from a wholesaler (you need a business tax-id #), it will cost a little less than the florist with a lot more headache.

You can get really nice silk/fake flowers from Michael%26#039;s Carfts, etc..., but make one arrangement as an experiment first. It probably won%26#039;t turn out like you want. So don%26#039;t go buying gobs of flowers and supplies until you know exactly what you want.
Reply:real flowers cost much more than doing it yourself. You can get fake flowers from michaels for under a dollar each and then you just buy some ribbon to wrap around. I%26#039;ll probably make my own flowers to hold! They look just as nice :-) congrats on getting married!
Reply:I just did my own flowers.

I spent 100$ at Hobby Lobby for silks to go in the church and in urns outside the church, they are not close enough to guests for them to tell the difference.

Then I bought 300$ worth of flowers from an online wholesale website. I made 3 bouquets, all the corsages, button holes from the groom and ushers etc, table arrangements and pew arrangments. I may have spent 500$ in total for all flowers silk and live and for the acsessories to assemble them. There are so many ways to save money if you have the ability and time and are willing to do some of the work yourself. By the way the arrangments I made for 500$ would have cost me 3 grand at the florist, I did price it.

Also, getting bridesmaids and moms to help do this makes for a GREAT night of laughter and memories.
Reply:Real flowers can cost between double the price to 10 times the price of silk flowers. I went with silk for my wedding. With silk you know exactly what the arangements will look like since the flowers colors will NOT vary like with realy ones. Plus you can keep them after the wedding if you want and it won%26#039;t cost you an additional fee to have them dryed.
Reply:Real flowers cost SIGNIFICANTLY more than fake flowers. The average expenditure on real flowers ranges in the 700 to 1500 range, depending on size of your wedding and complexity. Fresh flowers look nice in the wedding, but they wilt and die, and you can%26#039;t keep them unless you preserve/dry them. Silk flowers will always look as nice as your wedding day, if you keep them out of bright sunlight (they might fade otherwise).

Now, I looked into making my own bouquets/arrangements with silk flowers, but I knew they would not look nearly as professional. So, I went to Ebay and did some %26quot;wedding flowers%26quot; searches. There are a number of very reputable florists on Ebay that do custom orders of flowers for your wedding. I bought my silk flower arrangements for less than $200 including shipping. That included my bouquet, three bridesmaids, one toss, corsages for the Mothers, bouts for all the guys and 8 pew bows. My flowers look great and they will never wilt. Based on the average cost I mentioned above, I saved at least $500 that I can spend somewhere else. I think that was much better than blowing almost a thousand dollars on fresh flowers for a half hour ceremony and a 5 hour party. I would rather take that saved money and put it towards better quality food, better music, or save it for my honeymoon.
Reply:there are fake flowers that look real. just dont add tacky touches such as fake butterflies to the arrangement, then it looks really tacky. you can save an arm and a leg by going fake, just get good fakes!
Reply:I think fake flowers are tacky and to get really nice ones they cost as much as real flowers. I also depends on the flowers you want.... like roses cost more then mums. I would personally do the opposite- have real flowers for you to hold and for your pictures and use fake flowers on the table if you have to. Fake flowers look terrible in pictures!
Reply:Definitely go with real flowers. For our wedding, we bought 750 roses for around 300 dollars. Try www.globalrose.com. They%26#039;re relatively inexpensive and will ship them directly to your home. Florists are over priced. I think people use %26quot;fake%26quot; flowers because they last. That way, you can make them in advance. Personally, I hate fake flowers. They just say cheap to me.
Reply:Hi i am 21 years old and getting married very soon. i made EVERYTHING out of fake flowers cause i think its a lot cheaper and they will last a lot longer then real ones and you don%26#039;t have to worry about watering them, little kids spilling them, pedals falling off, you know what i mean. my wedding is coming up in a month and my reception is in 2 months cause I%26#039;m having a destination wedding. plus if you go with fake ones you don%26#039;t have to worry about a floweriest!!! i made my own bouquets out of fake flowers myself and have never done it before and it looks professional and only took me about and hour 1/2 to make it!!!! i was surprised. i even made my own boutonnieres. i shopped at discount stores and it costed me i think $20 for enough flowers to make my bouquet, throwing bouquet, and about 15 boutonnieres with flowers left over to use on the cake!!!!! i don%26#039;t know if i helped but it was worth a shot!
Reply:I found that when looking for good quality fake flowers they do get quite expencive. try your local sams club, I bought beautiful red roses(real) and only paid $15 for bunches of 2 dozen
Reply:real flowers are more expensive plus with the fake flowers you can keep them for much more longer than you can real. for you anniversary you can use the centerpiece for that special anniversary dinner at home.
Reply:Silks are ususally used because they last forever. This way the bride and groom can keep or give away the flowers. However, most silks that look real cost more than real flowers. But you can start preparing your silks way in advance, unlike real flowers that only have a few days. Check with you local florist about your other flowers, but you may want to consider buying fresh and doing them yourself. That would save you alot of money... but you would have to do it the day or two before the wedding.
Reply:my mom is making all of mine. there is a huge difference in the cost- she is using real flowers. it depends on how much you need. but i would think in general silk cost less than fresh
Reply:Fresh flowers are costly. Silk lasts forever, I had everything made of silk, so we could keep them forever. My bridesmaid%26#039;s and everyone. I gave the centerpieces away at the wedding to friends who had really been there. But it was considerably less for silk. Also, options are endless in silk.
Reply:The cost difference is pretty big. I saved about $600 by combining the two that way you got the look and the smell. I had a summer wedding with Lillies as my main flower. They were real but the rest was silk. Good luck!!!!!
Reply:I made my own from micheal%26#039;s silk flowers and spent a total of $80 versus the florist wanting to charge $350. It was worth it and a really fun project with my bridesmaids.

This is an 911 emergency?

a local florist is making two types of floral arrangements for thanksgiving: regular and special. Each regular arrangement requires 3 mums, 3 daisies, and 2 roses, and each special arrangement reguires 4 mums, 2 daisies, and 4 roses. The florist has set aside 60 mums, 54 daisies, and 52 roses for the two types of arrangements,

The florist will make a profit of $2 on each regular arrangement and $3 on each special arrangement.

2. Create a system of inequalities to represent the constraints. Graph the feasible region.

3. identify the vertices of the feasible region.

4. how much of each type of arrangement should the florist make in order to maximize the profit? what is the maximum profit?

The problem is actually simple, just take a look at any Research Operations book, Taha is the author of one very famous and also so simple. The answer is some large to write it here but I%26#039;m sure that looking one example in that book will help you to do the problem by yourself.

I am not going to do the work for you but I will help.

The profit is what you get for each sale of each arrangement type. So the total profit is the total profit from the combined sales.

The constraints are if all of one arrangement is sold and the other is 0. There are 2.

To max the profit you need to find the combination of reg and spec arrangements that give the most money and leave as few flowers as possible.

Hope this helps

go to www.proflowers.com I order from them all the time and am never disappointed.

Orchids in general are unique and elegant, so I think any type of orchid arrangement would be beautiful. I am sorry about your friends loss. It must be a difficult time. I know this answer is too late to be of any real help. Had I seen the question earlier, I would have suggested that you have the florist make a display using white flowers and using silver and black ribbon to dress it up.

The next time you need special arrangements, talk to your florist and try to give them some ideas. Most will be glad to make you something special. After all, they make the same arrangements every day.

Good luck and best wishes to you and your friend.

Should I be upset if I receive an identical floral arrangement for V-day as for another recent occasion?

I have been dating this man for about about 4 months.

Should I be upset if I receive an identical floral arrangement for V-day as for another recent occasion?
I can understand how you would be - we ladies put tons of thought into things like that. However, the fact that your man remembered V-Day and spent the money to buy you flowers is a lot of thought for a guy. Be glad that you got them - last year my boyfriend had my dad pick up a rose for me, lol!
Reply:I%26#039;d just be happy to get flowers.....many men don%26#039;t even bother....are they carnations? or fake? then maybe I%26#039;d be upset
Reply:Nope! It was nice of him to send you flowers and he probably didn%26#039;t remember that he had sent the same arrangement to you before. Or, maybe he thought you really, really liked that arrangement (like maybe you made a big deal about it the first time you received it), so he sent them to you again.
Reply:Gee, no. It was nice of him to think of you, and that%26#039;s the thought you should take to heart.

Often I will phone a florist service for a delivery, and I leave the piece up to the discretion of the clerk. I pick a price range, some types of flowers, a card and they take care of it, since I can%26#039;t see what they%26#039;ve got.

If it%26#039;s an identical piece, you might politely remark that these must be his favourite flowers, since it%26#039;s an identical piece. For all you know, he may think he%26#039;s sending you your FAVOURITE flowers.

As some would say, you are looking a gift horse in the mouth. Be thankful that you found a guy who is this thoughtful in the first place, instead of making a sow%26#039;s ear out of a silk purse. And while we%26#039;re at it, what have YOU bought for HIM?? Don%26#039;t forget that relationships are two-way streets!
Reply:No. You should be happy that he thought enough of you to send anything at all.....its the thought that counts.
Reply:No... first, it%26#039;s very nice that you received the flowers in the first place... and two, you never know... did you make a big fuss about them... maybe he thought you liked them a lot and wanted to get them for you again... Anyway, no matter the reason... it%26#039;s an extremely nice jester... just be happy and feel lucky :)

If I add more acrylic water to a floral arrangement, after it hardens, will it mess it up or look funny?

Well, it doesn%26#039;t exactly look funny, but what happens is that a line develops between the original application of the acrylic water and the addition you put on top of it. It also depends on the time frame between the first pouring and the second. The longer the time between pourings, the more noticeable the line becomes. If it has been a while, be sure to suck out any dust that accumulates on the first layer because I didn%26#039;t and that was really noticeable. If you want to add more and don%26#039;t like the line, you can add a ribbon, gimp, and/or a row of ribbon roses, glued to the vase on the outside to hide the problem. That is what I did and you cannot tell where the differential line is now.

When using stones and sand in a floral arrangement do i put the sand in first?

is there a way to layer them without having the sand run to the bottom of the vase? any sites for directions would be appreciated thanks

When using stones and sand in a floral arrangement do i put the sand in first?
No put the flowers in first to hold them up then a layer of sand then gravel then more sand then more gravel until you have enough layers. Then finish off with sand. The sand will filter into the gravel but you will get the look of different layers because the layers with the sand and gravel will have a different look and texture because of the gravel.

Can I include a floral arrangement for the death of my boss as a gift on my IRS return?
thats called being a cheap skate. why bother doing it if you are looking for reimbursement, you might as well take the receipt to your Accounts Payable and have them pay u back....geez!
Reply:No, you can%26#039;t deduct it as a gift of any sort. If you are self-employed, you could deduct it as a business expense.
Reply:Wow, I thought I heard of everything, but dang, that is the wackiest stuff I have ever heard of. Man I am not even sure what to say. Do you charge your children rent to live in your home? Why do people think that they can claim anything on their taxes? Do you claim an energy credit every time you breath out because it warms the air?
Reply:WOW

that%26#039;s compassionate. . . . . .
Reply:wow. people judge the heck out of you here but i bet they claim all their children as dependents ( you could argue how unloving they are because they use their kids to lower their taxes.) i bet they deduct any donations they made to their churches (you could argue they only give god money so they can lower their own taxes...and look good to their priest)...

dont feel bad about what these people have said.

....look i have no idea what your relationship with your boss was like...but if the floral arrangement was an unrembursed employee expense then you can deduct it. if it was a gift of sorts, then no you cant deduct it.

Find out the natural flora in Korea, then try to find these or simular flowers in the US. The two Koreas might have national flowers or something maybe you could research that.

Procedures in making floral arrangement for all souls day?

Procedures in making floral arrangement for all souls day?
I like to use dead flowers they seem to last longer
Reply:You don%26#039;t say how large the arrangement needs to be, if it%26#039;s to be sat on a table, viewed from a distance, or put on a grave. You have to choose whether you want to use silk, dried, or fresh flowers.

If I was making a fresh flower table arrangement, I would choose a basket or vase which looks pleasing close up and would be opaque to hide the stems.

I would soak a piece of floral foam called %26quot;Oasis%26quot; in water until it is heavy with water. Sink it in the bottom of the container. You may have to use floral putty to keep it anchored to the bottom.

Choose your color scheme. Autumn rusts, golds, and greens are attractive. Choose a %26quot;base%26quot; flower like baby%26#039;s breath, statice, or small chrysanthemums to make a soft lower layer. Next, use a few larger mums, decorative chili peppers, some dried leaves, and perhaps several stalks of wheat to make an upper decorative layer. Arrange the upper decorative flowers so they are not all at the same height.

You can bunch smaller flowers in the upper decorative layer, usually in groups of 3 or 5. Turn the arrangement around as you work so the final product will be pleasing to look at from all directions. Some florists like to use a complimentary ribbon tied around the container or made into a bow and tucked into the flowers. Choose a ribbon pattern and color which ties together the flower colors and the color of the container.

Using silk or dried flowers is a bit different. You%26#039;d use a foam called %26quot;Sahara%26quot; which will not hold water. You can use hot glue to help hold in the different elements of your design.

No matter what the container you use, the principle of making the arrangement interesting by varying the heights of the flowers, placing them in small groups, and not overcrowding the arrangement still apply.

Sounds like a fun project!

Try an Orchid. Or a bunch of flowers held in a hand. You can use all colours of flowers in plenty to make the bunch and for hand, you have yellow and pink flowers mix.

I have a floral arrangement that needs to secured better in the copper container it is in.....Suggestions?

You could use some floral foam and then you push the stems into it and it will hold the flowers in place better.

Floral Foam :)

It is a wonderful thing. :)

Soak the foam through and through before inserting stems and use the wire anchors to help maximize stability.

If they are faux flowers use a styrofoam ball with wire anchors. You can find both at a local hobby store.
Reply:Caulk the arrangement in place

Valentines day floral arrangement..?

Hi - I would like some advice about getting flowers for this girl that I like. She is 27 years old. We have been talking and hanging out for about 3 months now. Nothing has happened yet between us. No kiss, no %26#039;more than a hug%26#039; kind of thing yet. She is very busy and I hardly see her. She knows I%26#039;m interested in her.

I want to get her some flowers for Valentines day and I want something that lasts. I was thinking of doing a silk rose arrangement but I would like some ideas from the ladies. I don%26#039;t want it too big or too small. I think too big means %26#039;trying too hard%26#039; and hardly anything could mean just a friendship kind of thing.

So please tell me what I should get. I was thinking a single silk red rose and a teddy bear to go with it. But I don%26#039;t know what else would be good. Accessories? Etc..?

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Valentines day floral arrangement..?
thats alot of writing
Reply:I personally don%26#039;t like the idea of silk flowers. I think real flowers would make a much better impression on any woman. Just get something beautiful that you can afford. If you could have them sent to her house or to her work during the day, that would be even sweeter; although delivering them yourself if you have plans will be just as nice. Good luck with this girl :)

Floral design help?

what is the material used in floral tape, and why does it need to be %26quot;stretched%26quot; to be activated. And also, what is the stuff called you put into silk floral arrangement containers to make it look like water? and whats the texture of that?

Floral design help?
I don%26#039;t know what the material is that floral tape is made out of, but it responds to the heat of your hands and the stretching of it. The stuff you put into vases to make it look like water is called acrylic water. They have a whole bunch of different brands of it and they sell it at arts %26amp; crafts stores. The texture of it is kind of like mineral oil. The brand that I%26#039;ve used comes with two bottles - one that%26#039;s a thicker than water substance and the other is like an oil. You mix the two together and it creates the %26quot;water%26quot;. If you use it, make sure not to stir it too fast - do it gentle to reduce the amount of bubbles it creates. Bubbles will dry as bubbles so make sure to pop or get rid of any bubbles in your vase before it sets. Also, when you mix it make sure to use disposable bowls %26amp; utensils - the water will harden on it. It%26#039;s a great product that completely hardens after it sets and looks like water. The %26quot;water%26quot; needs to set for something like 1 or 2 days, so make sure to plan ahead.

I just want a basic diagram of how to arrange a nice Floral arrangement.?

I have been a floral designer for about 6 years. I just started working with a small florist local to me. I really want to satisfy my boss and need some tips on how to be faster but more creative and cost affective. Do you have any advice for me?

I just want a basic diagram of how to arrange a nice Floral arrangement.?
the idea of multiples of threes gives balance, if you arrange them in the form of a pyramid or triangle. Start with the tallest stem inserted straight up. The two other stems that form the left and right points of the triangle should be the same length of the first stem. These should be the same type of flower (rose, iris, lily, etc. ) and the same color.

Next fill in the contrast color. Again use the three stems to fill in; then the complimentary color and last the filler. This pattern will result in a lovely presentation based on a fan shape and two dimensional. For a round presentation, simply rotate the arrangement and proceed to fill it in.

A variation on the above pattern would be to use the triangle of stems to frame an exotic center bloom. Or an asymetrical two larger, or more showy blooms staggered like a stair step with fill around them. With flower arrangements a tried and true approach is to have color, size, and placement balanced--don%26#039;t be afraid to leave some space in lacey arrangements such as with using Queen Anne%26#039;s Lace or baby%26#039;s breath.

If you lay out your stems with approximate lengths and your color combinations first, you will save time. As you become more practiced, you will become faster. Adding a complimentary ribbon or bird can bring a neat finishing touch to your arrangement.

(You know, this is harder to describe with words than to show a diagram.! Hope it helps. Actually, you cannot go wrong with flowers because they are so beautiful
Reply:The best advice I can give you is always work in multiples of 3. 3 flowers, 3 babies breath, 3 greeneries, etc. Contrast your colors with the main flowers being the brightest and the fill enhancing the flowers. I hope this helps.
